Based on our experience, Mitsubishi Aircon is our recommended brand of aircon follow by Daikin Aircon. Our preference is based on 2 factors, energy efficiency and durability.
Mitsubishi Aircon comes with 5 ticks energy efficiency model certified by National Environment Agency. Moreover, the aircon’s design also makes DIY routine cleaning every month easy. Most users do not have aircon problems with Mitsubishi Aircon. With its extended guarantee, the Company sends a strong signal that they are confident of their aircon’s performance, reliability and durability.
Daikin Aircon is also an energy efficient aircon. Though our test and experience appears to lean towards Mitsubishi Aircon in terms of energy efficiency, Daikin Aircon may be better in terms of durability. This conclusion is based on feedback from customers and our repair records.
Panasonic, Sanyo and Toshiba Aircon
The other Japanese brands aircon like Panasonic, Sanyo and Toshiba Aircon are also considered good though we would view that Mitsubishi and Daikin to be a level above. If price is an issue, these brands of aircon should be your next best option. For budget conscious household, the Korean brands may also be a good alternative.
Samsung and LG Aircon
Korean brands like Samsung and LG aircon seem to enter this aircon segment quite aggressively. Their trendy design and innovative features like mobile app controller really appeals to the young.
If Mitsubishi intends to maintain its lead in aircon products, it may have to improve on its design to appeal to the young and trendy consumers instead of just focusing on the practical aspects.
Nowadays aircons are getting more sophisticated. They include humidifier and purifier and mobile phone app for remote access. In the future, there will probably be even more amazing features like instant cooling or miniature aircon with extreme power. Maybe there will be more energy savings features like solar panel on compressor box or re-using the heat generated by the aircon. Let’s see how the aircon will evolve over time.
