Is it helpful or necessary to install an aircon humidifier and purifier in an aircon room?
Air Humidifier in Aircon Room
As the cooling process of the aircon involves the condensation of water in the air, the humidity in an aircon room is usually low. Low humidity will lead to skin dryness and other health issues. As such, it is always good to have an air humidifier in the aircon room to balance the humidity of the room. Humidity level should be kept at between 25% to 50% relative humidity for good health. There are different types and sizes of humidifiers. Natural Humidifier uses dry a wick to absorbs water from a reservoir. Evaporative Humidifier is a Natural Humidifier with a fan to speed up the evaporative process. Vaporizer or Steam Humidifier heats the water and release steam into the air. Mist and Ultrasonic Humidifier spray fine droplets or fog into the air.
Air Purifier in Aircon Room
For air purifier, its purpose is to purify the air. As mentioned in another article, the purifier may help a little when someone is smoking in an aircon room. The main usefulness of having the air purifier is to remove contaminants which may lead to allergy and asthma to sensitive individuals. Some air purifiers claimed to remove carbon dioxide and keep the air fresh.
Of course, air humidifier and purifier is good to have inside an aircon room to improve the air quality by balancing humidity and removing the contaminants.
Aircon manufacturer has looked into the needs for air humidifier and purifier. Some latest aircon models have built-in air humidifier and purifier to better serve the requirements of users. Would you buy an aircon with built in humidifier and purifier? Or would you have a separate humidifier and purifier? This is individual’s preference. However, from an aircon technician point of view, installing a built-in air humidifier and purifier in an aircon may complicates the aircon repair and aircon servicing work if aircon breaks down. The cost of repair will also be higher.
